Fall 2019 Belly Dance Classes in Bryan, OH



The Bryan Parks and Recreation Department will be having an American Vintage Belly Dance class for women ages 15 and older. Enhance your grace and rhythm, tone your core and whole body, and enjoy a low-impact aerobic exercise through the feminine art of belly dance! Students will learn a movement vocabulary and technique based upon the classic American blend of pan-Mediterranean styles. Belly dance is suitable for all ages and body types, and no prior dance experience is necessary. All levels are welcome, and more experienced dancers will be given additional challenges. Warm-ups and cool-downs are included with each class. 

Please wear comfortable clothing that is not too bulky. A scarf or soft belt tied around the hips is recommended, and students may dance barefoot or in dance shoes. This class will be held at the Community Center on Buffalo Road, upstairs, and will run 5 consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 PM starting November 6th, with a cost of $48.00.  A minimum of four pre-registered students is required to hold the class, so please call 419-633-6030 to reserve your space.  If any class is canceled due to weather or other reasons, it will be made up the week following the end of each session.

Fall Belly Dance 2012 in Bryan, OH



Belly Dance Classes (age 15 and up)
Bryan Parks and Recreation
Fall 2012

Amplify your level of fitness with the feminine art of belly dance! Improve grace, beauty, flexibility, strength, rhythm and body image while learning to dance Egyptian style. Students may dance barefoot or in socks or ballet flats and should wear a scarf around the hips. A full body warm up and yoga cool down will be included in each class. Each session will run for 5 consecutive Thursdays (no class will be held on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22), and the cost is $40.00. All classes will be held at the Community Center on Buffalo Rd., upstairs. A minimum of 8 students must be pre-registered, and prepayment is highly encouraged to reserve your space. Call the Parks and Recreation office at 419-633-6030 to register. Instructor: Rita Helena

Basic Belly Dance—starts September 27
5:30-6:30 p.m.
This class is open to both new and continuing beginners and will cover the history, music, and movement foundations of the dance, putting the basics together into simple combinations to provide a low impact workout. No prior dance experience is necessary.

Beyond Basics—starts November 8
5:30-6:30 p.m.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed at least on prior session. Dancers will focus on transitions between movements and incorporate arm positions in a lead-and-follow style format. This class will keep you moving!

Intermediate to Advanced—6:45-7:45 p.m.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed at least 4 previous sessions.

Session 1—starts September 27
Dancers will learn the classical style of the Golden Era of Egypt from the 1950s and 1960s and refine methods of personal interpretation.

Session 2—starts November 8
Dancers will learn a set of combinations in the upbeat, folkloric style of the Egyptian Saidi.

Spring Belly Dance in Bryan, OH



Belly dance classes with Rita Helena will begin on Thursday, April 12.  This session will run for 4 weeks, and the cost is $32.  Please register ASAP with Cindy at Parks and Recreation, 419-633-6030 if you intend to take the class. All classes are held at the Community Center on Buffalo Rd. in Bryan, upstairs.

Basic Belly Dance is for new beginners through intermediate level.  Learn the foundations of Egyptian style and the Baladi, focusing on posture, basic steps, combinations, and a mini choreography.
5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Advanced/Troupe is open to current dancers at this level only.  Classes will double as rehearsals for performance opportunities, as well as focus on solo technique and personal styling.
6:45 to 7:45 p.m.
